The P100 was released to Europe in Mk5 form, just as the parent Cortina Mk5 was being replaced by the Sierra, and the 1985 pickup was the last of that form. Ford had considered selling a rebadged Mazda pickup in Europe, which would have been the Courier. It began as the Cortina Pickup and ended in 1995 on the Sierra, built in Portugal. The P100 was a coupe utility pickup that Ford built on the front half of a family car, sold first in South Africa and then in Europe.
