The E Series of 1985 was sold in both retail and commercial markets as passenger and cargo vans, and also as cutaway and chassis cab versions for specialist bodies. It was a body on frame van from the third generation, assembled at Avon Lake in Ohio and at Lorain Assembly. It was the best selling full size van in the United States from 1980 until the Transit replaced the vans in 2014. The E Series was Ford's full size van, sold as the Econoline and Club Wagon and as a cutaway chassis.
