For 1983 the Plymouth Scamp was introduced alongside the Dodge Rampage, distinguished primarily by badging and trim, and the Scamp was offered only for 1983. The Plymouth Horizon five door hatchback continued with few changes, built at Belvidere Assembly in Illinois, and it again outsold the Dodge Omni, the model line being the central one of the Chrysler L platform. The Horizon sold in North America shared almost no body panels with the European model.
