1983 Mazda 323

Automobiles

Originally available with 1.3 liter TC and 1.4 liter UC engines, in export markets the larger unit was replaced by the new 1.5 liter E5 engine for the 1983 model year. The wagon was a facelifted version of the previous rear drive model, sold in parallel with the BD. In June 1983 the turbocharged XGI Turbo was added, Mazda's first turbocharged piston engine. The Familia was also sold as the Ford Laser and Ford Meteor in Asia, Oceania, Southern Africa and some Latin American countries.
