The five door GLC gained a fully carpeted trunk for 1982, and the Sport was made to live up to its name with a front anti roll bar and cast aluminum wheels. In 1982 Mazda New Zealand offered a locally assembled limited edition called the Anniversary to mark ten years of local build. The fifth generation Familia continued as a front wheel drive hatchback and saloon with a Ford Laser twin. The Familia name means family in Latin.
