For 1982 the LTD gained the Ford Blue Oval emblem on the grille and trunklid in place of FORD badging, and a trip computer became an option to help track fuel consumption. The standard equipment 4.2 liter V8 was in its final year, with Ford dropping the 5.8 liter V8 from retail sale, now sold exclusively to police. The four speed AOD overdrive transmission was now standard on all three engines. The 1982 LTD was the last year for the 4.2 liter V8 as standard equipment.
