The 1981 Horizon was produced nearly unchanged from the 1978 model, in the middle of the eleven years of production of the Omni and Horizon. Chrysler assembled the Omni and Horizon at its Belvidere Assembly Plant in Belvidere, Illinois, the facility that assembled the entire line of L body vehicles. In 1981 the Plymouth Horizon outsold the Dodge Omni, as it did in most years of the model line. It was a five door hatchback.
