The Courier of 1981 was available with front disc brakes and a Ford built 2.3 litre engine as an option, the same engine as the Pinto and the Mustang II, in a compact pickup that was a rebadged Mazda B series with single headlights. It was approaching the end of its sale in North America. It began as a sedan delivery, became a Mazda built compact pickup, and later a Fiesta based van and coupe utility. The Courier was a Ford nameplate used on very different vehicles in different places and years, from sedan deliveries to pickups and vans.
