The fourth generation Galant Sigma was fully changed in May 1980, keeping the strong linear image of the popular predecessor with a slant nose of better aerodynamics. In Australia the car was now sold as the Mitsubishi Sigma, after Mitsubishi took over the operations of Chrysler Australia, a car that was produced in Australia over two generations until 1987. It had equipment such as a drive computer called Velnas. Sigma was a model name that Mitsubishi used on several vehicles based on the Galant and the Diamante.
