The Eterna of 1979 was in its second year, the Galant Sigma Eterna, a four door sedan sister of the Galant Sigma with a square two headlamp front, sold at the Car Plaza stores. As the sister of the Sigma it was named after it, with the Galant prefix, and the Sigma that sold best in the whole history of the Galant, the third generation, was its sibling. The name Eterna is Italian for eternal, and the Sigma in the name was meant to mean a summing up.
