The Taunus TC3 of 1979 replaced the TC2, with the Cortina Mk V, and Cortinas were also built in small numbers under licence from earlier models. The TC3 was built in Germany until 1982, while the Argentinian version continued to 1984 and the Turkish version to 1994. It was named after the Taunus mountain range in Germany and was often a close relative of a British Ford. The Taunus was the family car of Ford Germany, sold under the 12M, 15M, 17M, 20M and 26M names over several generations.
