In 1978 the optional 360 V8 could be ordered with a four barrel carburetor on the Road Runner package, a step up from the two barrel version offered in the first two years of the Volare based car. The 318 remained the standard engine and the package continued to be mostly about graphics and trim. For 1978 and 1979 the 360 could be had with a four barrel carburetor, and the cars were built on the Volare's F platform, which had replaced the A body Valiant and Duster series in 1976.
