In February 1977 a partial improvement unified the fender mirrors of the Galant Sigma to the Talbot type, and the 1.6 liter engines, except the twin carburetor 1600 GS, changed to the G32B with a silent shaft, timing belt, MCA JET and compliance with the 1978 rules. In Australia the car was marketed as the Chrysler Sigma from 1977 to 1980, before Mitsubishi took over the operations of Chrysler Australia. The Greek letter Sigma in the Galant Sigma name was meant to mean a summing up of the effort of the maker.
