In North America the Hilux name was fully phased out in favor of Pickup, dropped from brochures, advertising and manuals, starting in the 1976 model year. The popular option package, the SR5, became colloquially used as a model name for the truck. It was the last model year covered for the Toyota Hilux (second generation, N20), 1972 to 1977, and the Toyota Hilux (third generation, N30 and N40) came next, following the 1975 model year. Model year pages for the Toyota Hilux run from 1968 to 2026.
