On 12 April 1976, in March for the Minica 5 Van, to match revised kei car rules of January 1976 that allowed a length up to 3.2 meters, a width of 1.4 meters and an engine size up to 550 cc, the sedan and the van received a new long stroke 471 cc engine and a new name, the Minica 5. It was the first kei passenger car to meet the new rules, and an interim model. The Van range continued to use the previous body. The Vulcan S engine came equipped with a balance shaft later baptised Silent Shaft.
