The facelifted Capella arrived in mid 1976 in markets where the February 1974 facelift had been delayed by two years. The first generation was in its seventh year, a rear wheel drive intermediate car between the Familia and the Luce, with the 1.5 or 1.6 liter four cylinder engine, still sold in sedan and coupe forms, and with the rotary engined versions marketed under a different name abroad. The car was named after Capella, the brightest star in the constellation Auriga.
