A four speed manual gearbox was introduced for the Granada in 1976, alongside the standard three speed manual and the optional three speed automatic. During model years 1976 and 1977 the Granada was sold in a Sports Coupe trim, with the Monarch S as its Mercury equivalent. The Mercury Grand Monarch Ghia, a Mercury trim of 1975 to 1976, had no Ford equivalent. In 1976 the blue oval emblem began to return on cars produced by Ford of Europe and Australia.
