In October 1973 along with some safety improvements both engines of the Skipper IV were replaced by the 30 PS Vulcan S engine, and a Van Custom with four headlights and more equipment was added to the older Minica Van range a year after the Minica 73. In late 1973 Mitsubishi narrowed the Minica F4 range to four equipment levels, as kei car sales shrank. The Van range continued to use the previous body. The Vulcan S engine came equipped with a balance shaft later baptised Silent Shaft.
