1973 Mazda 323

Automobiles

The third generation Familia Presto was announced in September 1973, a month before the 1973 oil crisis. Production of the Brisa B-1000 pickup, built by Kia from a Mazda design, commenced in 1973. Mazda updated the rotary engine to a single distributor design in late 1973, with improvements for reliability and fuel economy, and the smaller 10A rotary engine was discontinued at the same time. Mazda built the Familia at its Hiroshima plant and also assembled it from knock down kits in several countries.
