In May 1972 the 1973 model year Hilux was introduced, designated the RN20. A 2.25 meter long bed was an option for the first time in North American markets, and the long wheelbase version finally reached North America in 1972. This was the first model year of the Toyota Hilux (second generation, N20), 1972 to 1977, which took over from the Toyota Hilux (first generation, N10); the 1973 model year follows it. Model year pages for the Toyota Hilux run from 1968 to 2026.
