The Duster was such a success that in 1971 Dodge requested and received its own version, the Demon, and Plymouth was given a version of the Dart Swinger as the Valiant Scamp in return. Only small changes were made: the Valiant fender badges and the Plymouth grille lettering were deleted, and a Duster Twister trim package with the look of the Duster 340 but only the six or the 318 V8 was introduced. Plymouth built 186,478 Dusters in 1971.
