For 1971 the grille of the Econoline was redesigned to match the updated F Series, which gave the van a family look with the Ford trucks. It was a front engined van with an optional V8, sold as a cargo van and a passenger van, and the Club Wagon came in several trims. It was the best selling full size van in the United States from 1980 until the Transit replaced the vans in 2014. The E Series was Ford's full size van, sold as the Econoline and Club Wagon and as a cutaway chassis.
