The Belvedere name was dropped at the end of the 1970 model year and replaced by the Satellite, a name originally reserved for higher end Belvederes, which then lasted only through 1974 and became the Fury in 1975 when the longer wheelbase Fury became the Gran Fury. The 1970 Belvedere was the last of a line that had begun as a Cranbrook hardtop in 1951 and carried Plymouth's top trim for much of the fifties.
