For 1969 the Belvedere line carried on in its Coke bottle shape beside the GTX and Road Runner performance models, the GTX standard with the 440 cubic inch engine and the Road Runner with the 383 Magnum, with the 440 six barrel or the 426 Hemi engines optional. Police departments used Belvederes, and and Richard Petty had won the Grand National championship in a Belvedere in 1968, so the performance reputation of the line was strong.
