After an April 1970 update the car was known as the Familia Presto Rotary in Japan, as the Presto name was added across the Familia range, and it was known in Australia as the Series 2. The Familia Presto was a reworked version with 60 millimeters of extra width and new front and rear designs. For 1970 the Familia placed eighth at the RAC Tourist Trophy in June and fourth at a German touring car race in July. Mazda built the Familia at its Hiroshima plant and also assembled it from knock down kits in several countries.
