The major change of the 1968 model year was the replacement of the original 425 cubic inch V8 with a new 455 cubic inch V8, rated at 375 horsepower in standard form or 400 horsepower with the W-34 option, and the rear quarter panels were revised. A full length center console with a floor mounted shifter was available as an extra cost option with the Strato bucket seats from 1968 to 1970. The 1968 car was the third year of the first generation.
