1965 Mazda 323

Automobiles

A new Familia 1000 coupe arrived in November 1965, with a 985 cc SOHC PC engine, the year after the saloons and wagons had been added to the line. A box van, called a panel van by Mazda, was added in early or middle 1965. The larger Mazda Luce followed in 1966. The Familia was a small rear wheel drive car, sold in Japan and exported abroad under names such as 800, 1000, 1200 and 1300. Mazda built the Familia at its Hiroshima plant and also assembled it from knock down kits in several countries.
