From 1965 the three speed Cruise-O-Matic automatic transmission was available on the Falcon, and front seat belts became standard. The 1965 car was the last of the second generation, with the squared off body introduced in 1964, and the Peanuts advertising ended that year. The Mustang, Mercury Cougar and Ford Econoline van would use the Falcon's platform as well, which was shared by eleven Ford lines over two decades.
