In 1961 the 170 cubic inch straight six, 2.8 liters, was offered for the Falcon based Ranchero, in addition to the smaller 144 cubic inch six. The Ranchero remained a compact coupe utility based on the sedan delivery body of the Falcon. Three speed manual, two speed Ford O Matic automatic or three speed Cruise O Matic transmissions could be ordered during the generation. It was a compact pickup of the second generation, built from 1960 to 1965 on the Falcon.
