Full size Fairlanes were restyled again for the 1961 model year, and all models got the block letters on their hoods. The big block 390 cubic inch V8 was available in 1961 as the top horsepower option, as the horsepower wars in Detroit continued. The Fairlane was a base model beneath the Galaxie in 1961 and would move to the intermediate class for 1962. This was the second and last year of the third generation of the Fairlane.
