For 1959 and 1960, to lower production costs, the Courier took the body of the two door Ford Ranch Wagon in its entirety, set apart only by the cargo area at the rear. It was still sold as a sedan delivery for commercial users, with panels in place of side windows. It began as a sedan delivery, became a Mazda built compact pickup, and later a Fiesta based van and coupe utility. The Courier was a Ford nameplate used on very different vehicles in different places and years, from sedan deliveries to pickups and vans.
