The 1957 Chrysler cars were redesigned with Virgil Exner's Forward Look, and the New Yorker sported fins that swept up from just behind the front doors, with its Hemi V8 enlarged to 392 cubic inches and 325 horsepower and the TorqueFlite automatic and Torsion Aire front suspension standard. Early cars had single headlamps with quad lights optional where legal. A total of 10,948 New Yorkers were built, 1,049 of them convertibles.
