1956 Chrysler New Yorker

Automobiles

Chrysler called the 1956 design PowerStyle, a product of Virgil Exner, and the New Yorker gained a new mesh grille, leather seats, a pushbutton TorqueFlite selector and a 354 cubic inch Hemi V8 of 280 horsepower. A four door pillarless hardtop made its debut and the DeLuxe suffix was dropped. Chrysler introduced the under dash Highway Hi Fi record player, and only 921 convertibles were made, while the Town and Country wagon was the most expensive Chrysler.
