Beginning in 1955 Ford moved its station wagons into their own series, and the Country Sedan went on as the mid trim wagon of the new series, with the Country Squire above it and the Ranch Wagon below. It kept the plain body sides that set it apart from the woodgrain Squire. It was the cheaper wagon beside the woodgrain Country Squire and outsold the Squire in every year. The Country Sedan was the mid trim station wagon of the full size Ford range, with plain body sides.
