In June 1954 the name Land Cruiser was coined by technical director Hanji Umehara, to sound no less dignified than competitors such as Land Rover in England. The 3.9 liter Type F petrol engine was added to the range for the first time that year, originally only in the fire engine chassis. It was the last model year covered for the Toyota Land Cruiser (BJ and FJ series), 1951 to 1954, and the Toyota Land Cruiser (20 series, J20) came next, following the 1953 model year. Model year pages for the Toyota Land Cruiser run from 1951 to 2026.
