The Belvedere stayed part of the Cranbrook series through the 1953 model year, when every Plymouth was completely restyled, with a shorter 114 inch wheelbase, a one piece windshield, flush rear fenders and a lower hood line. The Hy Drive semi automatic transmission arrived in April 1953, and a slightly higher compression ratio raised the flathead six to 100 horsepower. A total of 35,185 Belvederes were sold in 1953.
