The Vedette of 1949 was the only French car of its time with a V8 engine, though the Poissy factory could not yet fully resume making cars and had no stamping equipment, so many parts came from subcontractors, which harmed its quality and limited its popularity. Ford SAF built it at Poissy, and it was the only French car of its time with a V8. The Vedette was a large Ford built in France, designed in Detroit and fitted with a small V8 engine.
