The Vedette was introduced at the 1948 Paris motor show, a large car designed entirely in Detroit that looked like the Mercurys of the period. It had a 2158 cc Aquilon V8 engine from the Flathead family, the same as in the prewar Matford, and was built at the Poissy plant of Ford SAF. The Vedette was a large Ford built in France, designed in Detroit and fitted with a small V8 engine. Ford SAF built it at Poissy, and it was the only French car of its time with a V8.
