Nash restarted car production on October 27, 1945, and the 1946 Ambassador models were slightly facelifted versions of the prewar 1941 cars, with a new grille and minor trim changes. The Ambassador Six was now the top Nash, on a 121 inch wheelbase with an overhead valve six cylinder engine. A special partly wood bodied Ambassador Suburban, a hybrid of sedan and wagon with mahogany panels over steel, was built as a halo car to draw customers into showrooms.
