The 1947 Ambassador was essentially unchanged from 1946, with the upper grille bars lengthened partway toward the parking lamps and one trim level across the body styles. Nash promoted its performance and economy: Cannonball Baker drove one from Indianapolis to Portland and back at about 27 miles per gallon and set stock car hill climb records. The Ambassador was also chosen as the Indianapolis 500 pace car, Nash's only time, and the first four door closed car so used.
