For the first two years manufacture of the BJ was exclusively to order and in small volumes, but in 1953 regular production of the Toyota Jeep BJ began at the Toyota Honsya Plant, with body assembly and painting at Arakawa Bankin Kogyo. It was introduced in BJ-T Touring, BJ-R Radio and BJ-J fire engine cowl chassis variants. It was model year 2 of 3 in the Toyota Land Cruiser (BJ and FJ series), 1951 to 1954, coming after the 1952 model year and before the 1954 model year. Model year pages for the Toyota Land Cruiser run from 1951 to 2026.
