The T80 series Corona was introduced in February 1970 as a complete redesign on a separate platform from the Corona Mark II. The 1.7 liter 6R engine was added in September 1970, a slight change occurred in January 1971, and the car was redesigned in August 1971 with a new grille. A milder restyle appeared in August 1972, including the 2.0 liter engine, and North America received the wagon only in July 1972, for the 1973 model year.
