The T80 series Corona was introduced in February 1970 as a complete redesign, developed on a separate platform from the Corona Mark II. The 1.7 liter 6R engine was added to the lineup in September 1970, and a modified Corona was shown at the 1970 Tokyo Motor Show as the Electronics Car. This was the first model year of the Toyota Corona (fourth generation, T80 and T90), 1970 to 1972, which took over from the Toyota Corona (third generation, T40 and T50); the 1971 model year follows it. Model year pages for the Toyota Corona run from 1957 to 2001.
