The third generation was shown in November 1986, first as the commercial Rex Combi in three or five door form and a month later as the private use sedan. It brought a two valve and a three valve engine, full time four wheel drive with Twin Viscous, an electronic continuously variable transmission, a supercharged version, and from 1989 a four cylinder engine unusual among kei cars. It was replaced by the Vivio in 1992. Its model years run from 1986 to 1992.
