In 2008 the R2 was in its sixth year, a kei car of Fuji Heavy Industries sold in Japan with the rounded shape that was deliberately less space efficient than the Pleo. It had a 658 cc four cylinder engine in SOHC, DOHC AVCS or supercharged form and was sold in front or all wheel drive, with the facelifted Legacy like grille that came in November 2005. Fuji Heavy Industries made the R2 for sale in Japan as a kei car. The R2 was initially available in 11 colors and 3 trim levels, one for each engine variation.
