Subaru released a special model known as the Forester STI Sport in July 2023 for the Chinese market. The sixth generation Forester was revealed at the Los Angeles Auto Show on 16 November 2023, so the fifth generation was in its last full year of production, with the 2.5 liter boxer engine in North America. The e-Boxer hybrid powertrain integrates an electric motor into the Lineartronic continuously variable transmission.
