The Monterey was a series of full size Mercury cars built from 1950 to 1974, named for Monterey Bay. Over 22 years of production it served as the flagship, mid range and entry level of the Mercury range, and it was the only Mercury nameplate in continuous production through the 1960s. Mercury discontinued it after 1974, leaving the Marquis and Colony Park, and revived the name in 2004 for a minivan. This site gives every generation and every model year its own page, in 8 generations: the 1950 to 1951 (1950 to 1951); the 1952 to 1954 (1952 to 1954); the 1955 to 1956 (1955 to 1956); the 1957 to 1958 (1957 to 1958); the 1959 to 1960 (1959 to 1960); the 1961 to 1964 (1961 to 1964); the 1965 to 1968 (1965 to 1968); the 1969 to 1974 (1969 to 1974).
