1959 Morris Major

Automobiles

The Series II Major and Lancer, coded DO1115, were released in July 1959. The Series I had sold reasonably well and was profitable to build due to shared components, but BMC Australia quickly invested in the thoroughly re-engineered Series II, which was 9 inches longer with an extended wheelbase, tailfins and new front sheet metal. Series II styling seems to have been inspired by American ideas and gave the cars a more handsome appearance.
