Mazda3 (first generation)

Automobiles

The first generation Mazda3, the BK series, was unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show on 10 September 2003 and reached Japan in October as the Axela. It replaced the Familia, 323 and Protege, and it shared the Ford global C1 platform with the European Ford Focus and the Volvo S40. It came as a four door fastback sedan and a five door hatchback, with Mazda MZR petrol engines and diesels in Europe, and a high power Mazdaspeed version. It was built in Japan from June 2003, and later in Colombia, Iran and China. Its model years run from 2003 to 2008.
