After Japanese production ended in December 2023 the CX-8 stayed in production in Malaysia, where it had been assembled and marketed since late 2019 and exported to several Southeast Asian countries. The Mazda CX-80, which was set to debut in 2024, took over as the direct replacement in Japan, Australia and New Zealand once stock was depleted. Outside of Japan, the CX-8 is available in China, Oceania, and Southeast Asia.
